Jim Kross Memorial Endowed Athletic Scholarship

James Matthew Kross enrolled at Riverside City College in 1960 where was an outstanding student athlete participating in football and basketball. He obtained his AA degree in 1962, transferring to Fresno State College to complete his BA in Physical Education, Health Education/Physical Science. He later received an MA in Education and Physical Education and an MA in Psychology form Azusa Pacific College in 1979. A proud Navy veteran, Jim served two tours in Vietnam, retiring as a commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve (1961-1999).Jim began his teaching career at John W. North High School in Riverside (1968-1972) before being hired by Riverside City College, a college he proudly called home, until his retirement in 2000. Jim’s Riverside City College career included time as a coach, athletic director, and as an administrator, and a highlight of his time at the College was his induction into the RCC Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002. Jim passed away in 2015 after a brief illness, and this scholarship was established by his family, friends and colleagues to continue his outstanding legacy to RCC.
