Dr. Phyllis Rowe Vocational Nursing Endowed Scholarship

When Professor of Nursing Phyllis Rowe retired in December 2010, she had the distinction of having the longest full-time tenure of any woman to teach at Riverside City College (1968 – 2010). In 2000, the Vocational Nursing class planted a tree by the Life Science Building in her honor and in 2004, Dr. Rowe was presented the Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence. In 2009, she was awarded the position of Full Professor. Since her retirement, Dr. Rowe has continued her long tenure of service to RCC through her philanthropy, making frequent visits to the RCCD Foundation office to donate in memory of various friends and colleagues, and faithfully growing the Vocational Nursing Scholarship towards endowment. Dr. Rowe has shared about her commitment to RCC, “I have tried to show my appreciation for RCC by serving the College and our students to the best of my ability. It is a blessing to have the opportunity on a daily basis to help people achieve their most cherished dreams. Lives are changed at RCC and all of us have been given a gift to be a part of this.”
