Bruce Hockett Memorial Director's Choice Endowed Award

Bruce Hockett was a 1975 graduate of Ramona High School in Riverside. While attending Ramona, he played the clarinet in three different school bands: marching band, jazz band and concert band and sang in the school choirs and madrigals. At Ramona, he received the John Phillips Sousa Award which recognizes outstanding dedication and superior musicianship. Through his musical education Bruce developed a life-long appreciation for a variety of musical forms.
While illness prevented Bruce from continuing with the clarinet, he remained active in community choirs until his passing in 2004. This scholarship is being established by his family in recognition of how music so enriched his life. The scholarships awarded to an RCC music major who has taken 12 or more units, is a current member of the RCC Marching band or Choir who demonstrates talent, enthusiasm, and dedication, has a 3.0 GPA or higher.
