Hazel I. Evensen Memorial Endowed Business Scholarship

Hazel led a bountiful life. Born and reared in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Hazel worked as a personnel officer for the Chicago Ordinance District Milwaukee REG during WWII. In 1945 Hazel married her beloved, Andrew J. Evensen, and later that year they moved out west to the warmer climate of Riverside, CA. For the next 30 years, Hazel worked for the Riverside County Planning Department, where she retired in 1976.

Upon arriving in Riverside, Hazel and Andy began cultivating a citrus grove on their property. After her husband’s passing, Hazel continued to operate their grove, amidst slowly losing her eyesight due to macular degeneration. Hazel loved Riverside and was extremely proud to be a resident of the city.
