Brandon D. Fields Memorial Scholarship

Brandon D. Fields was born October 4, 1988 in Los Angeles, CA to Raymond and Phyllis Fields. His family moved to Moreno Valley, Ca in 1997. Brandon attended Sunnymead Elementary School and while in the 2nd grade, he mastered the program “Hooked on Phonics” and was reading at a 5th grade level. Brandon then went on to attend Sunnymead Middle School and during his educational tenure he was consistently on both the Principle’s and Honor Rolls. He continued to excel with honors and graduated from Moreno Valley High School after which he attended Riverside Community College, where he majored in Music.
Brandon always enjoyed music and in 2001 he started rapping and writing his lyrics on paper. His passion for rap began at an early age and he was fortunate to have his first album “Expected to Lose” released on 08-08-08. In September 2014 rapper Snoop Dogg contacted Brandon via Twitter to be a part of his “Gladiator School”. Snoop Dogg took Brandon under his wings and mentored him to help further his craft. Snoop Dogg was such an inspiration to Brandon and treated him like family. Brandon’s family will always be grateful to Snoop Dogg for honoring, respecting and being a positive influence in their son’s life.
Sadly, on December 8, 2014 Brandon’s life was tragically cut short while he was walking to a friend’s house after work. Brandon left a great legacy for the rap and battle rap communities and the family desires for all those who have dreams to excel just like Brandon. Brandon believed in helping others reach their dreams. He was a firm believer in pushing toward your goals until something great happened. This scholarship will continue to help other’s fulfil their passion in music and in the visual and performing arts.
