Irmy Tilton Memorial Endowed Scholarship

After being an RCC student, Irmy Tilton was a teacher and Director of Cosmetology at RCC from 1960 through 1980. She was a Holocaust survivor, earned a Bachelor of Vocational Education degree from Cal State Long Beach at age 50, and was selected to carry the Olympic torch for the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics for overcoming adversity and exemplifying the Olympic spirit by serving as a volunteer at the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics and the 1991 U.S. Olympic Festival in L.A. Most important to her were her family and the pursuit of education.
This scholarship was established in 2016 in her memory by her surviving sons Dennis and Roger Tilton, and her grandson Spencer Tilton, to be awarded to a continuing student majoring in a vocational program, with a minimum 3.0 GPA, and demonstrated financial need.
