David Avila Jr. Cross-Country Athletic Scholarship

David Avila, Jr. dedicated his life to helping others. He believed strongly in education and anyone who knew him saw his love for students and his passion for his family and giving back to the community. Throughout his career, he coached Cross-Country and Track and Field and inspired many kids to pursue athletics, in particular running as a sport. This scholarship is in memory of the great coach he was and those he inspired. The purpose of the Fund is to provide scholarship support for the Riverside City College’s Athletics Department.

Student must be enrolled full-time (12 or more units) and in good standing at Riverside City College
Student must have a minimum grade point average of 2.0
Student must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid
Student must be currently participating in Cross- Country as a student athlete
Student’s personal statement must describe intent to transfer to a 4-year institution
Preference given to students who are first in their families to attend college.
